So, let’s talk about the people that make you happy. Today’s episode features Bella Shmurda and Waje.
Akinbiyi Abiola Ahmed born in Ojo, Lagos is a Nigerian songwriter and musician.
Also known as Fineboy Bella, he is signed with Oneword Global Records. Bella rose up to fame in 2019 and he has been active in the music industry ever since.
He started his music career in 2018 when he released his debut single “Vision 2020“. He later featured Olamide in the remix of the single and released it in 2019. In 2019, he released another single titled Only you. In 2020, he seemed to fulfill his dreams as his song CashApp featuring Zlatan was the song of the year. That song earned him a nomination at the Headies Award for the next rated in 2020, two City People Entertainment Awards for the next rated in the male category and Street Music of the year. Bella has also released other singles in the year 2020; Dagbana Orisa (2020), Cash App (2020), Colodia Drive Us (2020), Cash Out (2020), Polongo (2020). His sound is a blend of Afrobeats and hip hop.
Bella considers himself to be a unique person, that’s why his professional name is Bella Shmurda “a beautiful gift from God”.
Her birth name is Aituaje Aina Vivian Ebele Iruobe. She is one of the Nigerian female singers whose voice range over three octaves. Gifted with such powerful voice, she writes beautiful songs too.
Waje’s success story will remain an inspiration to millions. She was the first child of a broken marriage. Thus, she had a hard time dealing with the separation of her parents. She joined the church choir when she discovered her talent and interest for music. After some years, she was banned from singing in church because she got pregnant when she was writing the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations. She was such a great singer that the Archbishop Benson Idahosa was quite impressed with her singing and decided to help her during her entire secondary school days.
When she was done with secondary school, she got a degree from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. There, she performed at many concerts and fellowships. Her music career didn’t start till 2007. She was a student that was singing and performing to sponsor herself through school. In 2008, she featured in the P-Square hit track titled “Do Me”.
She also participated in Advanced Warning; a reality TV show organized by MTV Base South Africa and Zain Nigeria which featured artists that are on the verge of a breakthrough. She finished the show as the first runner up. She has been in collaboration with different artistes.
She released her self-titled debut studio album in 2013. She gained recognition and support from her fans. In 2015, Waje was announced as one of the judges on The Voice Nigeria, alongside 2face Idibia, Timi Dakolo and Patoranking. Her sound is a bend of Pop, RnB, Soul music, Rock and Blues.
She has won many awards and nominations through the years.
Unfortunately, in March 2019, Waje revealed her intentions to quit music professionally. She said she was considering quitting because of the lack of support towards her music.
She may have left the music industry but she still gets featured by many artistes. She also hinted us in one of her social media posts that she may be back in the music industry
