An EP or an album can get you into different kinds of moods. One voice doing different sounds and singing different lyrics and passing different messages would drive you to know more about the artiste. It’s like a sudden change of weather. If you have heard CKay’s EP, you may understand my point. Yes, artistes in focus this week will feature CKay and the beautiful Ms. Banks.
CKay

Chukwuka Ekweani is a Nigerian recording artiste, producer, entertainer and an instrumentalist that was born in Kaduna. He plays the keyboard, the guitar and he sings with a voice made by angels. He started his music career as early as 2015. He produced music for popular artistes like; Dice Ailes, Oritse Femi, Falz, ice Prince, DJ Neptune, Ruby Gyang and many other artistes.
CKay was introduced into music when he was a child. His father was a choir conductor. Learning and watching his father closely, he wrote and produced music in a Christian group. When he was of age and felt he had learnt a lot from his family, he relocated to Lagos.

In Lagos, CKay took a job as a production intern with loopy music. Soon, he started working for MI when there was a merger between Chocolate City and Loopy Music. Favoured by grace, he became the official Chocolate City in-house producer. It was not until 2016 that CKay got signed to chocolate City as a recording artiste.
He released singles and Eps like; Who the Fuck is CKay and Container don Land. He has also released albums like; CKay the first. His most recent EP is titled Boyfriend. There is a cooing relaxation that comes with listening to CKay. He is a master of mellow and sonorous music. You can describe his genre as a blend of Afro-pop, R&B and Soul music.
If you just want to enjoy what life and music has to offer, CKayis your guy.
Ms. Banks

Thyra Oji was born in London to a Nigerian father and a Ugandan mother. So, technically, Ms. Banks is a British rapper, singer and songwriter. At the age of 11, she discovered her talent. She started singing and writing rhymes. This is why she sounds more foreign than Nigerian.
She grew up listening to Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Estelle and Ms. Dynamite. Little wonder why she chose rap. She also fell in love with Nicki Minaj and even now, people think she sounds like Nicki on a small scale.
In 2014, she released her first mixtape called Once Upon a Grind. She released about 3 mixtapes as Ms. Banks. In 2016, she released her first EP titled New Chapter EP. Soon, she gained recognition. She was on a remix track; “Uno My Style”with Stefflon Don. Working nonstop, she dropped a debut album; The Coldest Winter Ever in 2018.

Her hard work and style of music caught the eyes of Nicki Minaj, so after a few years, Ms. Banks was on a tour with Nicki, supporting her. Like her role model, Ms. Banks has proven that she is versatile and can switch to any form of music whenever she wanted. She may be recognized as a rapper but Ms. Banks has shown her singing prowess too. In her track; Back It Up, she did the hooks and it came out beautiful.
She collaborated with so many musicians and rappers home and abroad; including Stormzy, JME, Falz, and Simi.
Ms. Banks is sometimes shy but she has learnt to handle it. After all, she’s an artiste.
