The new kings and queens tend to understand the music industry more. They know that they all were not called to do Afropop or Afrosoul or Afro-reggae. They have carefully picked their genres and they are making crazy waves with their decisions. In today’s episode of Artistes in Focus, we will feature Niniola; the Afro Queen and Wurld.
Niniola

Niniola Apata is our very own Afro queen. She is known professionally as Niniola. She is a talented Nigerian singer and songwriter. She became popular after she left the sixth season of Project Fame West Africa in 2013 as the third runner up. Niniola already has an iconic background story. Her father was the famous Army Brigadier General S.O Apata who was assassinated in 1995. She is also the sister to Teni Makanaki; another beautiful singer. After releasing her debut single “Ibadi”, she was nominated for Most Promising Act to Watch at the 2015 Nigerian awards entertainment.
Her style of music is pure Afro. She described it as Afrohouse. It is a blend of Afrobeat and house music. Afro House is a sub-genre of House music, with its roots predominantly in South Africa. A fusion of Kwaito, Tribal, Deep and Soulful House music, in South Africa it is classed as Deep House or Soulful House, although it has its own unique sound. Africa is the birthplace of mankind and music, and this is reflected in the musical composition. The aesthetics in Niniola’s videos are legendary and tells the story of a black African woman. She is able to blend Beyonce, Whitney Houston, Madonna and Angélique Kidjo.
Niniola is signed to Drumroll Record label. She released the Sarz-produced single “Maradona” in 2017. The song was so much of an African Vibe that it spent 13 weeks on South Africa’s Metro FM chart. It also retained the number 1 position for 6 weeks on that Chart. She earned nominations at the 2018 BET Awards and SAMAs for Maradona. Her latest piece is her album; Colours and Sounds which is a perfect album name.

His music career started in 2012 when he released his first single; Beyond Our Dreams. This single was from his Debut EP called Evolution. He later released Show You Off and Better Days in 2016.
